The accompanying programme will offer a medieval village, mining baking and modern technology
The 30th Meeting of Mining Towns and Villages of the Czech Republic and the 19th European Day of Miners and Metallurgists will not be just about the festive parade and the main programme. The organisers are also preparing a rich accompanying programme that will offer experiences for families with children, history and technology lovers during the weekend.
Photo exhibition and student theatre at the Waldorf School
On Wednesday, 10 June, an opening of Josef Krček's photographs will take place in the lobby of the Waldorf School as part of a concert to celebrate his 80th birthday. The exhibition entitled Příbram - People, Nature and Landscape will present photographs capturing the atmosphere of the region and its changes. The exhibition will be open to the public until 26 June from 8.00 to 16.00.
On Friday, 12 June, at 17.00, the 12th class of the Combined Lyceum of the Waldorf School Příbram will present the theatre performance The Reviser by Nikolai Vasilievich Gogol. The class theatre is a traditional part of the curriculum and will offer visitors an original student rendition of the well-known satirical play.
The medieval mining village at Anna Mine
On Saturday, 13 June, from 16.00 to 18.00, the Mining Museum Příbram will be enlivened by the atmosphere of a medieval mining village on the premises of the Anna Mine. Visitors will see demonstrations of traditional crafts, such as gold panning, hemp rope making, the work of a miner's blacksmith or the production of leather items. There will also be demonstrations of the sealing of period documents.
The programme will culminate with the opening of the exhibition "From the history of Příbram and mining activity in the work of Jan Čaka".
Programme for children at the Marie Mine
Children will also find something to enjoy. On Saturday, from 10.00 to 18.00, the Příbram House for Children and Youth is preparing creative workshops at the Marie Mine, mineral production, plaster casting and stamping of unique seals. Artistic blacksmiths from the Waldorf School will present a sample of their work.
There will be an obstacle course, an adventurous mining trail through the Birch Mountains and horse riding.

DIAMO up close
On Saturday, 13 June, from 10.00 to 15.00, the state enterprise DIAMO will offer the public the opportunity to visit places that are normally inaccessible. The DIAMO archive at Shaft No. 15 in Příbram-Brod will offer guided tours, virtual reality with the opportunity to try out mining at the CSA mine in Karviná or demonstrations of modern technologies used in mapping the terrain.
The programme will also include a screening of the film "Uranium Legends", presentations by mining rescuers, a children's zone, a minecraft corner, exhibitions of historical photographs and a thematic photo corner.
Those interested will also be able to visit the mine water treatment plant in Dubenec and learn about mine water treatment technologies and environmental protection.
A free shuttle service will be provided from Příbram to both sites and back.
Mining baking in Rimba
Sunday's programme will also include the traditional Mining Baking at the Řimbaba Mine. The historic oven will be baking buns, bread and sweet treats according to traditional recipes from 10.00.
Visitors will be able to enjoy the authentic atmosphere of baking bread together, which recalls the old traditions of the region. There will also be refreshments and an accompanying programme.
Excursion to the Příbram Ironworks
On Sunday, 14 June, the Příbram Ironworks will open its doors. Interested visitors will be able to see the historical premises, the metallurgical museum and unique technical exhibits.
Guided tours will take place in limited groups (max. 40 people) from 8.00, 9.00, 10.00 and 11.00 and will offer an insight into the history of metallurgical production and the current focus of the company.
