WITH A HEART ON THE HILL AND IN THE MINE
30th Meeting of Mining Towns and Municipalities of the Czech republic 19th European Day of Miners and Metallurgists
12 - 14 June 2026 in Příbram
Řimbaba Mine and the Museum of the Bohutín Microregion, Bohutín
What you can visit and see:
- The Řimbaba lookout tower - it was built by completing the staircase on the mining tower of the former Řimbaba mine. It is one of the few lookout towers in the area and thus arouses deserved interest. Height of the observation platform: 14 m. The view opens e.g. to the Brda hill Třemošná and local ponds.
- Mining apartment - a replica of a historical apartment was created in the originally devastated premises. Especially at the time of the regular Easter and Christmas celebrations at Řimbaba you can enjoy the homely atmosphere of the old times, get closer to traditional customs and taste traditional delicacies. You will also find a traditional oven built by one of the members of the association.
- The Nativity Scene Exhibition - is one of the new features at Rimba and attracts well-deserved attention. In the permanent exhibition you will see a variety of historical and contemporary nativity scenes. There are also carving demonstrations at some of the larger events.
- Outdoor exhibition of mining technology - you can see it "in action" during our regular July mining festival.
- Chapel and wooden cross - the cross has been restored by the association in the place where it used to stand in the past
- Expositions in the former engine house: historical and contemporary photographs with mining and local themes, minerals, historical joinery - here you can see information about local mining activities in addition to the minerals. In addition, there are historical local photographs, which some memorabilia will make you cry. You will also see contemporary mining photographs by M. Zelenka.
- Outdoor exhibition of historical agricultural equipment - our ancestors did not live only by mining, their "daily bread" was also work in the fields. So let's take a look at some of their earlier "helpers". Outdoor exhibition "medieval mine and ore dressing furnace" including a replica of a mill - come and show the children what a mill looked like. It fell down twice during construction. After all, you don't build a mill every day....the work was a success after all.
- Costume display - see the country style costumes and clothes made by our members. They don't just hang around - sometimes we dress up in costumes too. You will also see young people wearing them, for example during the traditional Easter on Rimba. You can also take a look at the photo chronicles of the association.
- Outdoor exhibition of landmarks
- The Rimba adit - get a glimpse of the life of our mining ancestors: put on your helmets and take a peek underground.
- Exhibition Hall - various events are held here, such as the launch of the book "Mining Tales" about the elves who live in Rimba. You can also see photographs of the life of the association. Various occasional exhibitions are held here (minerals, mining-themed collections, etc.).
- Fabián's Garden - in this corner under the shade of a huge spruce tree, surrounded by a thicket of raspberries, Fabián, the spirit of the Brda forests, sits secretly in a strawberry bush.
